We diagnose and treat Auditory Processing Disorder (APD).
Not everyone who has a problem hearing has hearing loss. APD is more common than you think. This is when someone who may hear quiet sounds easily has a problem processing what they hear. APD can affect both children and adults, and the sooner it is diagnosed the better the outcome. All learning – listening, comprehension, language, spelling, reading – can be significantly compromised. Children suffering from this can be severely affected, especially if it is assumed they’re simply not paying attention, or are not interested in learning.
Our goal is to assist those who have auditory processing difficulties by diagnosing the problem then strengthening communication and listening skills. We work with people of all ages, with a particular interest in children. We see children from age six.
If you notice one or more of the listening problems listed below, APD may be the cause.
